The Boardwalk Empire will be premiering its 5th and final season on September 7 and what better way to enjoy the American period crime drama than by enjoying a moonshine cocktail? Head Bartender Ray Anguiano from Chicago’s Atwood Restaurant, conveniently located within walking distance to many of the city’s top attractions including The Bean in Millennium Park, created The Loop cocktail in honor of the final season.
According to Anguiano, the cocktail’s name is inspired by Atwood’s location (in the downtown “Loop”) and also because the moonshine is made using F.E.W. Spirits. F.E.W. Spirits may be nationally recognized but its distillery is based in Chicago’s neighboring city of Evanston.

- 2 oz. F.E.W. White Whiskey
- ½ oz Punt e Mes
- ½ oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
- A dash of Orange bitters
Shake and strain into coupe. Garnish with one orange swath.
